Guided Somatic Pendulation Session
May 08, 2025We live in a fast-paced world where most of the time we do not have time to properly integrate, digest, and regulate our emotions and nervous system in a balanced and grounded way.
Today I share with you one of the most useful tools I found in my healing path: somatic pendulation. The term was originally coined by Dr Peter Levine as ‘emotional pendulation’, which basically consists of a process to ‘unfreeze’ trauma and foster nervous system homeostasis.
In this emotional/somatic pendulation guided session, we move from comfort to discomfort, from one emotion to another in a flowy way, instead of remaining stuck in a permanent emotion, that could be, for example, anxiety, fear, anger, depression, or sadness. In this way, we allow the chemistry and brain activity of our body to pendulate and move in a direction that triggers other types of emotional responses we may not be tapping into on our daily life. Therefore, creating the opportunity to release accumulated emotion, mental tension, and psycosomatic stress.
The 5 main benefits of emotional somatic pendulation are:
1) Regulates the nervous system:
Pendulation helps balance the sympathetic (activation) and parasympathetic (rest) responses, fostering self-regulation and reducing overwhelm.
2) Reduces trauma-related dissociation:
By gently moving between comfort and discomfort, pendulation reconnects the body and mind, decreasing numbing or emotional disconnection.
3) Builds resilience to stress:
Gradually training the body to stay present during emotional waves strengthens one’s capacity to manage future stress without re-traumatization.
4) Releases stored tension:
Micro-movements between activation and rest allow the discharge of trapped survival energy from past experiences.
5)Enhances body awareness and presence:
Regular pendulation practice sharpens interoception—your ability to feel internal bodily sensations—which is essential for emotional healing.
In this blog’s video recording, we will move together from anger to safety, and from sadness to laughter. Enjoy the benefits of opening your emotional sincerity and allow your true essence to shine forward and guide you into a meaningful life of quality relationships, emotional intelligence, and fresh uplifting creativity.
